Massage in PregnancyPregnancy is a time of enormous change, both physically and emotionally. Massage is a wonderful way to support the mind/ body changes that occur throughout the path of pregnancy. It can help relieve the pains and tensions experienced in pregnancy, such as backache, aching legs, and swollen feet. It can also help treat common conditions such as sickness, constipation, and insomnia. Massage relaxes and supports the muscles, provides rest and relaxation and ensures a flow and balance of energy. It replaces unpleasant symptoms with a feeling of well-being and it keeps you healthy. Ayurveda recommends plenty of support and nourishment for the pregnant women and for good reason too! Mums to be need to receive because they are giving so much from their vital energy to their baby growing in the womb. Massage can help balance women by restoring and replenishing this essential energy. A woman can receive massage at any time during her pregnancy. The needs of the mother and the baby will be different during each trimester and the massage will be perfectly adapted and tailored to these needs. During the massage you are kept comfortable with bolsters, blankets and cushions. The oils I use are beautiful, organic, ayurvedic oils such as almond oil infused with rose petals, sesame oil which is rich in calcium or coconut or olive oil. The massage takes place with you positioned comfortably on your side, on a specially designed massage table. If you are in your later stages of pregnancy, you may be massaged in the cat position or over a beanbag. One and a half hour massage- £52 Please note that the first visit lasts 2 hours and costs £59 as a consultation fee is charged for the first visit when an extra 1/2 hour is needed to take a medical history and do an Ayurvedic diagnosis.
