Thai Yoga Massage

thai massageAyurvedic Bodywork

Thai Yoga massage is a unique experience that combines massage, breathwork, acupressure and applied yoga in one gentle and effective therapy. Thai massage is a form of therapy based on the theory of the flow of energy through the meridians. When these energy meridians and acupressure points are worked upon it stimulates and relaxes the mind and body, promoting the natural healing process.

Thai massage supports the body natural striving towards homeostasis.

What can I expect

Thai massage takes place on a futon on the floor; the recipient is fully clothed. It begins with the feet and proceeds up the body finishing with the head. All parts of the body receive a thorough massage. The recipient will experience the massage in 4 different positions: prone, supine, side and sitting.

The masseuse will use her body weight as well as her thumbs, palms, elbows, forearms and feet to massage and stretch the body. The pressure given is always appropriate, it is consistent, smooth and rhythmic.

What are the benefits?

By taking into account the ayurvedic constitution (Prakritti) and any manifesting imbalances (Vikritti) a massage is perfectly tailored to the therapeutic needs of the individual. This information is gathered at the first visit through an examination of the pulse and tongue. In addition the therapist gives the massage in a state of mindfulness or presence. By being present and focused, the therapist is better able to tune in, listen and respond to the recipient

From my own experience of massaging others I have noticed an amelioration of such symptoms as backaches, urinary incontinence and urgency, I.B.S., chronic fatigue, sciatica, arthritis, digestive disorders, chronic muscular and myofascial pain, headaches, menstrual problems and postnatal stress and strain.

Thai massage is effective at

  • Reducing stress
