Well Woman YogaMothers who spend time and energy looking after children and/or working need themselves to be nurtured and supported. It is important to take time out to look after yourself. A specialised yoga class provides the ideal exercise and space for this to happen. Whether you have small children, a toddler or a baby, the physiological changes that occur after pregnancy and birth can remain with you a long time. With work and caring responsibilities, a womans core strength can weaken and it is common to experience.
Many general yoga or exercise classes over emphasise stretching of joints and opening of the pelvis which is not suitable where ligaments can be loose and core strength weaker. The internal organs themselves need the stability and strength of a core centre. Stretching needs to occur at the level of the connective tissue which is often stiff in the muscles at the neck, face, back and hamstrings. Both the loose and tight areas of the body can become worse during and after tiredness, stress, PMT, incorrect posture and lack of exercise. In this class we emphasise strengthening the pelvic floor, thighs, abdominals, and back as well as stretching tight and tense spots to release knots and tightness from the body. Practicing fluid movements and postures with awareness of breath works wonderfully at nourishing the nervous system, soothing the mind and emotions and increasing vitality. |
